What's on the Horizon for The Shop?
February 13, 2017
We have spent the last four years building up our vision of the ideal local drum shop. We have served thousands of customers near and far and made friends all over the world. Our loyal and supportive customers have become like family and we want to continue to be of service to those who support this little mission.
But the industry has changed drastically over the past 10 years and, in order to remain sustainable, the face of the ‘’local drum shop” needs to change, too. We will be closing our current location over the next few months and offering discounted pricing on many items in the shop. We will shift our focus to offer more repairs, restorations, lessons, and backline rentals while building up our website where you can find featured products with personalized descriptions and demos (www.TheDrumShopNS.com).
We will slowly transition our retail sales and lesson program to our other business location — Collective Jiu-Jitsu (www.CollectiveBJJ.com). We will be open by appointment and continue to get you the right gear at the right prices!
The Drum Hang will continue on the first Wednesday of each month at 9 Wallis (www.salon9w.com). As always, each event will feature a different clinician who will focus on their strengths as a musician and educator. We will also feature different drums, cymbals, and hardware at each event at special ‘drum hang’ pricing. The doors open at 6pm (food and drinks are available for purchase), the show starts at 7pm, and we wrap it up around 8:30pm to get you home at a good hour. These clinics are inspiring, educational, and fun — and we hope to see you there!

Striking a Balance
November 5, 2016
When I opened this store four years ago, I made one commitment to myself -- to be a musician first and a shopkeep second. I had witnessed many shop owners hang up the sticks and become full-time retailers. That was never my destiny. I love drums, drummers, and drumming -- and I’ve been determined to keep that balance. But it hasn’t been easy! Having the shop open eight hours a day along with maintaining a busy teaching practice and steady gigging schedule has been nearly impossible. So, I’ve come up with a compromise I think better serves our DSNS customers while ensuring that I keep a balance between teaching, playing, practicing, and running the coolest little shop around. We’re going to reduce hours a bit while offering more appointment times to personally help customers get exactly what they need -- when they need it.
Our new hours will be Monday-Thursday 12pm-5pm and Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm. We’ll be available by appointment before and after hours if you need to grab anything from our store, too. Just give us a call or text us at 978-810-9377 or shoot an email to Nate@TheDrumShopNS.com to set up a time. *We prefer to stay closed on Sundays so Marissa and I can have the day off together*
